Safeguarding Policy
Last reviewed: 17 June 2026 · Version 1.0
Keeping children safe is the whole point of Sparklemuffin. This policy explains how we do that and what to do if you're worried.
1. How the platform protects children
Parent-approval gate — nothing a child shares goes public without their parent or guardian's approval. Handles only — no real names are ever shown, and children do not give us their email address. All chat and comments are club-based and moderated; there are no private direct messages. Parents can see everything their child posts and sends.
2. Moderation
Messages and comments are held for review and only appear once approved. Concerns and reports are reviewed by our moderation team.
3. Reporting a concern
Anyone can report a concern in the app — children via "Report something" and parents via the Safety centre. Reports are reviewed by our team and escalated where necessary.
4. Designated safeguarding lead

5. Handling harmful or illegal content
We take the presence of harmful or illegal content extremely seriously. Any content that is potentially illegal — including child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — is removed immediately on identification and reported to the National Crime Agency (NCA) and the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) in accordance with our obligations under the Online Safety Act 2023. We cooperate fully with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command (CEOP) and other relevant authorities. Accounts associated with such content are permanently suspended. Our obligations and processes under the Online Safety Act are reviewed and updated as that legislation and accompanying codes of practice come into force.
